LCH and their expanded footprint in Oxford

A conversation with Director of Development, Kate Wickersham

Tell us a little bit about LCH and its history in the area.
LCH has been a part southern Chester County for almost fifty years! We were founded as a social services agency, connecting community members to resources. Over the years, we have evolved to meet the growing and changing needs in our community. Today, we are a community health center with three locations (Oxford, Kennett Square, and West Grove), providing integrated, whole-person primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, dental, mental health, and community services to everyone.

How many people do you serve?
We provide care for almost 9,000 patients each year.

What makes your services stand out?
We truly take care of the whole patient at LCH. We understand that medical care is only one part of health and wellbeing. Not only do we have amazing clinical staff, but we have an entire team of caseworkers that work with patients to provide additional assistance or support in navigating the health care system. Things like applying for health insurance, legal clinics, education classes, and more available at no cost to the individual.

What about mental health?
Integrated behavioral health is available to all our patients. We love this model of care, because your mental health and wellness are so closely connected to your physical health. Our teams work together to make the best plan for you. Across our three facilities, we also offer outpatient therapy and psychiatric medication management. You can learn more about each of these tiers of mental health services at LCH here: lchcommunityhealth.org/behavioral-health/.

Do you provide urgent care?
While we do offer sick and acute visits to our patients, we are not an urgent care center. If your condition is an emergency and you need medical attention right away, call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room. As a primary care provider, LCH plays an essential role in preventative care for the community. By establishing care at a medical home like LCH and going to regular check-ups with your provider, you have someone that is checking on you to make sure that you are staying healthy. If there is a change in your health, you can address it right away. Primary care is in important investment in your health. If you don’t have a provider, the time is now to establish care as a new patient!

How long have you been in Oxford?
LCH opened its first location in Oxford in 2016, just outside of town. We moved to our current location, 14 South 3rd Street, in January 2021. This space is much more accessible to Oxford, whether you are walking or driving. We have free parking for patients available in the Oxford Parking Garage on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Just look for our signs! We love this community, and we are proud to be a part of it.

Are you accepting new patients in Oxford?
Yes! If you have set your health aside for these past two years during the pandemic, the time is now to come back and establish care. We would love to take care of you at LCH.

What kind of health insurance do you accept?
We accept Medicaid, Medicare, most private insurance, and uninsured patients as well. We evaluate everyone to determine if they are eligible for discounted services, which are based on household income and family size. AT LCH we don’t turn anyone away due to inability to pay!

What are your hours in Oxford?
